Glade was awesome despite being awoken at 7 each morning in a giant sweat bag. Hi-lights include Altern-8, Bong Ra, Steve's eyeliner, the acid techno crew, Jocelyn's dust bath, practical demonstrations on why acid can be bad and gurning my head off on P.e.p pills (caught me off-guard just a little!)
Did you know that Grog Blossom means "A redness on the nose or face of persons who drink ardent spirits to excess"? I thought this was particularly fitting name considering how ridiculously red I turn when a single drop of alcy-ma-hol passes my lips.
I have spent the past hour amusing myself with all sorts of pirate slang, here are some of the hi-lights:
* Crack Jenny's Tea Cup - To spend the night in a house of ill repute.
* Hornswaggle - To cheat or defraud, often of money or belongings
* Bilge rat - (1) A rat living in the bilge of a ship. It is considered the lowliest creature by pirates, but many pirates take to eating the animals to survive. (2) An insulting name given by a pirate.
* Freeze a Brass Monkey - Between a ship's guns were lip-edged brass trays called monkeys which held pyramid stacks of cannon balls. In cold weather, the brass tray would contract faster than the iron cannon balls and the balls would go tumbling on the deck. In this case it was said to be "cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey". This is one of the stories going around regarding the meaning of this term. A good many people disagree with it.
* Monkey Jacket - A short, usually red jacket worn by midshipmen.
* Splice the main brace - To have a drink or perhaps several drinks.
Fair Winds!
